Partnering with a law firm to deliver cyber security

Several security concerns meant that our client, a team of solicitors, needed robust cyber security.
Our client’s issues : stolen laptop and a compromised reputation
Our client had recently experienced a theft of a laptop from one of the solicitors’ car.
The incident highlighted the fact that the company passwords were not complex enough. They were easily broken by the thief who got access to all company data and emails via the device.
This severely compromised the solicitors’ firm business and ultimately their reputation.
Our solution : multiple cyber security stops and checks
Whilst we could do nothing about the data or the device that had already been taken, we were able to work with the client to establish processes ensuring that this could not happen again including:
- Encryption of all company laptop devices so that data can only be accessed once a security key is entered.
- Introduction of complex passwords including minimum length, alphanumeric and special characters enforced
- Renewal of passwords every 45 days.
- Introduction of multi-factor authentication on key entry points to remote systems.
- Creation of security groups within the internal systems to enable faster shutdown of remote access when systems are compromised.
It’s imperative to ensure that our legal clients are protected robustly against any cyber attack.”
The result
Espria’s IT experts have implemented a consistent approach to the IT environment of the solicitors’ firm. It can be flexibly expanded as new devices are added to the network. Also, our 24/7 monitoring means the firm receives pro-active support.
